RULES AND GUIDELINES
We are not overly rule-orientated, but we do have some basic rules to ensure everyone’s enjoyment. Breaking any of these rules can result in warning, suspension, or immediate ban.
Server Rules
- We do not allow any activity which compromises the integrity of survival Minecraft (such as cheating, glitching, duplicating).
- Zero-Tick farms are considered an exploit of the game and are therefore banned on the server and may not be constructed.
- Piglin trading exploiting the bug to skip the bartering animation are also banned on the server.
- Respect other players.
- Do not take items belonging to other players without their permission.
- Respect other player’s builds and plans – make sure you communicate your intentions and discuss compromises if you build close to another player’s buildings or marked out areas
- Be mindful of lag on the server when you are building
- Be respectful in your communication with any other player on the server.
- PvP is strictly prohibited, unless agreed to by all participants.
- Mob spawning cages (spider, skeleton, zombie, blaze and magma) and rare structures (i.e. pillager tower, witch hut, budding amethyst blocks) are not to be destroyed unless permission is granted by leadership. (Silverfish spawners may be destroyed at anyone’s discretion).
- Discord is our main forum for communication and you must be a member of our Discord server. If you leave AthosCraft Discord your access to the server will be removed.
Etiquette
Lag
Be mindful of not using too many entities in one area – they cause lag, not just for the player in the vicinity, but for everyone on the server. An entity is anything that can move or has an animation (e.g. chests, shulkers, growing crops, items in item frames, paintings, amour stands, mobs (incl. villagers) boats, minecarts etc). Please do not keep more than 30 of one type of mob (incl. villagers) loaded at one time.
If you build a redstone contraption that may lag the server (e.g. with many pistons moving), please minimise the use of it to quiet times on the server.
It is important to light up your area (including underground caves) to avoid unintentional mob spawning. This will not only help make your area safe from creeper explosions, but also help any mobs farms on the server.
It is acceptable to be away from the keyboard (afk) to keep farms going when you are not actively playing. However, if there is lag on the server a moderator may kick any afk players to help the situation.
Nether portals
Nether portals are a good way of creating fast routes for travelling. However, placing portals too close together can cause them not to link as intended. Also, mobs from your area can also travel into the Nether and put other players at risk of running into them.
Therefore always secure your portals and place them as close to the ideal coordinates as possible. The coordinates in the Nether dimension corresponds to overworld x and z coordinates divided by 8, (the y coordinate is the same as in the overworld).
Helping other players
If a player dies, be aware that their items will despawn within 5 minutes if any player is in the vicinity. Therefore, collect their items, if they are not able to themselves, and put them in a chest.
It is a good idea to name your armour and tools and any other valuables, so it is easy to return them to the correct player. Also, it is recommended to rename your shulkers, so they can be returned to you if forgotten somewhere.
Economy
We usually have a Shopping District as a fun way for players to share resources. Players can build shops and sell any item they like. It is encouraged that several players sell the same item, as it can be difficult to keep up with demand at certain times. The economy is supposed to be fun for everyone, whether they play a lot or a little, so please keep the following in mind:
- The economy is not a game to be won by anyone – if you make money, remember to spend them again, so they go back into the system.
- Bartering and giving gifts outside of the Shopping District is allowed, but it will effectively “steal” a sale that could possibly have been made by someone who went through the effort of building a shop – check stock in the shops before making other deals.
