ATHOSCRAFT SEASON 6

This will be fun! Not only has Mojang provided a new update with loads of things to explore, but the Archons have also been hard at work to put together a deluxe package of add-ons and plans for events and developments through the course of Season 6.

We are going to see progression phases, themed areas, shop plots sales and more…

As usual, you can participate or opt out of community events and builds, and it will also be possible to avoid most of the add-ons if you wish to play a more vanilla-like game.

PROGRESSION PHASES

We are imagining Season 6 as a story we build together, where we progress through 3 phases: Survive, Create and Prosper.

If you would like to make a story together in Season 6, we invite you to travel through the themes and phases, and move from mere survival to evolving craft and technology. Ultimately we will build a space rocket and travel to Mars!

Each phase is meant to guide the focus of the community, and they may overlap with each other. The following is meant as suggestions to what we could do together in each phase, but everything is optional and other ideas are also welcomed.

Survive!

Starting without any resources is tough when you must survive the environment. To make it even harder we are starting this season with a game of Demise, so now your friends are also working against you!

This will probably be the shortest of the phases, but we do have some suggestions for activities:

  • Participate in Demise
  • Decorate Demise Graveyard
  • Help prepare the Shopping District area
  • Resource challenges
  • Discover Trial Chambers together
  • First Ender Dragon fight (traditionally a community event)
  • Buy plots in Shopping District and start earning coins
  • Start a build in Mesopotamia – the start of civilisation

Create!

For season 6 we will also be working towards a common goal for the community: Build a space ship and travel to Mars!

Suggestions for activities:

  • Build a space ship
  • Build a Nether hub
  • Make a road network for horseback riding between bases
  • Start a build in Medieval or Fantasy
  • Discover carpentry

Prosper!

The Mars Colony area is located outside +/-3000, and holds some surprises that will make it fun to visit. It will not be opened up until we have completed the space ship.

Suggestions for activities:

  • Participate in event to travel to Mars
  • Start a build in SciFi or Water World
  • Build a colony on Mars
  • Sell supplies to astronauts
  • Build mini games and organise gaming events

DEMISE

This season starts with a game of Demise, inspired by the game from Hermitcraft by the same name. We have adapted the rules a bit to fit with the playing style on AthosCraft.

Demise Rules

  • The winner is the last active player to have never died in S6.
  • Demise starts as soon as you log into S6.
  • There will be an option to opt out of the Demise game, if you wish, and become a “Civilian”.
  • To win, you must be online for at least 1 hour in total per week (from Monday to Sunday) for as long as the game continues. If the last person standing has not fulfilled this, the winning title goes to the next person, etc.
  • Once a Demise participant has died for the first time, they become “Hunters” who may lay traps for those who have not yet died (“Targets”) until the game ends.
  • You cannot attempt to trap or punch someone until you have died and become a Hunter. EDIT: From July 31st Targets will have the same rights as Hunters to trap and punch other Targets.
  • If there is no winner after 2 months (by August 23rd) we will organise an event to crown a winner amongst the last Targets.

Rules for Hunters

  • PvP is not allowed. However, you may attempt one unarmed punch on a Target to make them fall off a ledge, take their last remaining heart if they are fighting monsters, have fallen by accident or similar. When you have punched once, you may not punch again in that same instance. You must await another opportunity.
  • Traps are not allowed at Spawn, Demise Graveyard, Mini Game District or Shopping District.
  • Do not lay traps that destroy intricate builds or redstone contraptions that are not easily rebuilt.
  • If anything is destroyed by your trap, then you must help rebuild.

Rules for Targets

  • EDIT: From July 31st Targets will have the same rights as Hunters – see ‘Rules for Hunters’ above
  • PvP is not allowed. However, you may attempt one unarmed punch on a Hunter to push them back if they get close to you. When you have punched once, you may not punch again in that same instance. You must use the opportunity to get out of danger.
  • Lost inventory, including armour and tools will not be replaced. You must be prepared to risk a loss.
  • You must not set up base or camp out for the whole duration of the game at Spawn, Demise Graveyard, Mini Game District or Shopping District.

THEMED AREAS

Season 6 of AthosCraft is going to bring back themed areas.

Builds can be individual or cooperative, but must adhere to the given theme within these areas.

Players may also choose to build outside these areas in whichever style they prefer.

The customary Athos rules apply to these areas, so make sure you are a good neighbour if you build in the vicinity of another build.

Mesopotamia

The Mesopotamian area contains both savannah and desert biome, to represent the shrub desert landscape of the southwestern Asia.

This will be the area to build ancient palaces, ziggurats and temples of the earliest civilization. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon or Sumerian temples might be ideas for this place.

Fantasy

Medieval and Fantasy areas are located close together.

The Fantasy area contains a forest area including a dark forest with giant mushrooms and even a bit swamp should you feel particularly “witchy” this season.

Medieval

Medieval includes an open plains area with rivers and a few hills – which might be in need of some protective structures from the magic forces from the Fantasy area to the North!

SciFi

The SciFi area is where you can live out your futuristic dreams, whether it be in Cyberpunk style, creating a city from your favourite Star Wars movie – or something completely different.

Water World

The Water World is located close to SciFi, and you can continue the SciFi theme here by building an apocalyptic or lavish city on the surface or in the ocean.

This area could also be a place to build a hidden ancient sunken city.

The Mars Colony

This area outside the +/-3000 border will not be open at the beginning of the season. To get to Mars we must first construct a space ship! Once we are ready to go, the area will be open for you to build all the requirements for colonising Mars. There is room for several players to make independent bases here or cooperate on projects.
